FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are your COVID-19 health and safety precautions?

We are committed to doing everything in our power to provide a COVID-19 safe environment for our clients and staff. The following COVID-19 health and safety precautions have been implemented in our studios.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

We have reduced the number of reformers at the Samford studio from 10 to 8 and at the Bardon studio from 8 to 7.

This allows for at least 1.5 metres between each reformer and meets the 1 person per 4sqm requirement, as recommended by the Australian Government.

ARRIVAL PROCEDURE

You will be welcomed by your instructor and asked to enter the studio when your class is ready to commence. Please make sure you maintain social distancing while you are waiting outside the studio.

You will have your temperature checked. If it is outside the normal range you will be asked to contact your GP for a COVID-19 test. Once the test has been found to be negative, you will be able to reschedule your class.

You will be asked to disinfect your hands with the hand sanitiser provided upon entering the studio.

You will be asked the following 3 questions:

  1. If you have had any cold/flu like symptoms within the past 14 days?
  2. If you have been in contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19?
  3. If you have returned from overseas in the past 14 days?

Please arrive on time for your class.  Should you be running late, you will unfortunately forfeit your class as it will be extremely disruptive to other clients for us to perform temperature checking, etc whilst also instructing the class.

PHYSICAL CORRECTIONS

Instructors will use verbal cueing and hand gestures instead of performing physical corrections of clients. This will ensure that we maintain the necessary social distancing requirements, whilst also providing a safe workout.

CLEANING OF STUDIO AND REFORMERS

All our reformer machines and equipment used during the workouts are to be disinfected by clients at the end of every class using the hospital grade disinfectant spray and paper towels provided. Paper towels are to be disposed of in the bin provided when leaving the studio.

Time has been allowed between each class for your instructor to disinfect the studio and all high touch surfaces.

We ask that you wait outside the studio, maintaining social distancing, until your instructor welcomes you to enter the studio.

HAND STRAPS

The reformer hand straps will be sprayed with disinfectant after every class and put through a hot sanitised wash daily. Should clients wish to use disposable or cotton gloves (and masks) during their class, this is more than welcomed.

HAND SANITISER

Hand sanitiser has been made available on the front counter at each studio and must be used upon entering the studio. Our instructors are also sanitising their hands before and after every class.

STICKY MAT AND SOCK USE

Should you wish to purchase your own sticky mat, these are available at the studio for a cost of $4.50 each.

Socks are compulsory and must be worn in every class. We have pilates grip socks available at the studio for a cost of $11.95 each.

What is reformer pilates?

The origins of reformer pilates date back to the original pilates studio in New York in the 1920’s and was designed by Joseph Pilates. The reformer uses springs, pulleys, bars and straps to perform hundreds of exercises in a variety of positions to target very specific and stabilising muscle groups.

As quoted by Joseph Pilates himself (the founder of the Pilates Method) - “Pilates develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit”.

How does it work?

Reformer pilates aims to target each individual muscle group in isolation, working from the abdominals and core, through to arms, glutes, legs and back. The exercises performed within the class change on a daily basis, placing the muscles under altering loads. This is an ideal technique for building and toning muscles and giving an all-over body workout. By adding spring resistance as well as light hand weights during some exercises, we will ensure you experience a total body workout. You will feel a muscle burn like you’ve never experienced before!

How often should you do reformer Pilates?

Unlike some other physical activities, reformer Pilates can be done on a daily basis. It is gentle enough that it won’t tear muscles, yet challenging enough to keep you motivated. There are hundreds of movements and exercises on the reformer so you will feel your workouts targeting your body from all different angles. Even if you can only come to Pilates once a week, it will assist in strengthening weakened areas and help promote strength, flexibility and balance.

Who can do reformer Pilates?

Pilates is low-impact and suitable for all ages and abilities (from beginners to athletes). The added benefit of doing the exercises on the reformer is that you can adjust the level of intensity to suit your own body; thus allowing each person to obtain an overall body workout at minimal risk of injury, and within your own limits. Our video workout system will guide you through each workout with a video demonstration of each exercise. All of our classes have a qualified instructor to provide specific technique correction and adjustment to each individual.

What do I need to bring?

Socks! It is mandatory that all classes be performed in socks for safety and hygiene reasons. Non-slip socks are also available for purchase in your studio. We also recommend you bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated.
